Restaurant: Chutneys – S. P. Road, Secunderabad, IN.
Chutneys is a restaurant chain in the recent past which has made its presence felt strong in the Twin Cities area of Hyderabad-Secundarabad. They are a South Indian restaurant know for wide varieties of Chutneys and lengthy meal spread.
Being in Secunderabad on work, planned to visit them for breakfast. The ambiance is elegant and cozy with wooden interiors being predominant. This place doesn’t serve normal water and they use 500ml bottles in place of normal water (no extra cost). Our order was a simple one.
Before our order was served, there came the wide spread (6 actually) of chutneys.
- Coconut Chutney: This is no non sense, pure chutney made of coconut only. This was sweet and loved it.
- Groundnut Chutney: The authentic Andhra style chutney which I hadn’t had for a while.
- Tomato Chutney: Rich aroma of tomato and the tempering made it good.
- Ginger Chutney: Something new for me and I liked it.
- Tamarind Chutney: The tangy and sweet chutney made of tamarind and jaggery I believe.
- Regular Coconut Chutney
Guntur Idli: This is a good variant of idli, served with paruppu podi and ghee spread on the idlis. The idlis were soft and delicious with the podi. It is served with sambhar. The sambhar was quite unique. One wouldn’t find this kind of sambhar easily. The tanginess and sweetness were well balanced with pepper giving the warmth. The masalas were mild to provide great taste. it has good quantity of vegetables not not too watery.
Masala Dosa: Based on our request, we got 2nos of half Masala Dosa. The presentation was surprising, as many restaurants wouldn’t serve half masala dosa in such good way. The masala was good and dosa was crispy.
Horlicks Milk: Been a long time since I drank such good Horlicks in restaurants. Not too light flavoured as served in other places.
Will visit them for Lunch the next time I’m in Hyderabad. And note, this place is packed during peak hours, as they are one of the favourites for vegetarians.
