Microbrewery: The Yellow Submarine, Bannerghatta Road, Bengaluru, IN.
Located bang opposite to IIM-B, this terrace brewery is situated in the Big Bazar building. As you enter the place, a submarine door welcomes you to explore the deck. With ample greenery, rustic structures and artworks, the ambiance is quite welcoming for a sunny afternoon or a chilly evening.
We opted for a table across the parapet facing the lush green IIM-B. Our chugs for the afternoon included all the available ones for the day viz Hefeweizen, Kolsch and Porter. Hefeweizen was mild and good, but was a bit less chilled. Kolsch, being a hybrid of ale and lager, was my first time; it tasted well and liked it. Porter on the other side, was my best pick among their brews!
The eats which went well with the beers were Onion Samosa with Beetroot Hummus, Mango Mint Paneer Tikka, Tandoori Paneer Pizza and Veg Dum Biryani. The Beetroot Hummus was yum, which made the balanced samosa feel good. Mint Leaves and Mango marinate tasted well with the soft Paneer, but ended up a bit blander to my liking. Generous amount of sauce and Tandoori Paneer cubes loaded thin crust pizza, was a delight to eat. To end the main course, we had the very aromatic dum cooked Veg Biryani, consisting of well balanced spices and flavours.
A meal is not finished until one has had a share of the desserts. So, we went ahead in ordering Baked Cheescake. Topped with Blueberries, the cheesecake was not just colourful, but also tasted yum. Had to order for a second serve as my remaining glass of porter and this went hand in hand.
